As i was planning a trek during August of 2001, I had two problems to deal with the monsoons and limited time.Fortunately, I had the luxury of being in Kathmandu for several days before leaving on a trek, and this allowed me to shop around for trekking companies and guides. I had visited three different trekking companies with my plans of trekking in the Khumbu region for only ten days, but each one left me with that uneasy feeling of weather they were competent enough. He not only spoke good english, but he presented me with his all professional, Which reassured me in his abilities. Kul das was immediately truthful about what to expect trekking during monsoon season. He didn’t hide that there could be flight delays or even that we would not see any mountains at all due to cloud cover. I hired Kul Das Tamang based on his professionalism, honesty and experience.

I consider myself of very experienced backpacker and adventure traveler and i was very pleased with our guide’s ability to adapt to that. I trusted his advice on all aspects of high altitude travel and his knowldge  of the region’s topography is outstanding. Kul das on us just for the sake of conversation. His strong leadership ability and confidence was evident throughout the trek, but especially when we were confronted with several challenging obstacles created by landslides.

It is only matter of time before i return to Nepal for more adventuring in the Himalayas, and i’m very happy that i have someone as experienced as Kul Das Tamang to count on as a guide.
